I used the Powell Group this past month to list and sell a home in Boise, ID. in the Harris Ranch community. I live in California and did not have a local real estate contact and also had the complications of renters in the property at the time this was going to market so was really concerned that this would all be handled properly. I had heard really good things about the Powell group through a friend...and, after my first meeting with Kirsten and Rick, and seeing the extent of their professional marketing, sales process and complete comprehensive overall well-run operation...felt very confident contracting with them. Rick and Kirsten not only sold our home (review below), but helped us immensely on the purchase of our dream home. Having both of them by your side while you survey a new property for purchase is invaluable. They point out any issues that can be easily missed. They sent mailing campaigns and "walk & knocked" neighborhoods that we were interested in. They understand what you are looking for in a home and put a HUGE amount of work in. The listing agent on the home we purchased was pretty bad. Rick & Kirsten handled all the things that could have been very stressful and made it a pleasant experience for us. They got us in a position to be the strongest buyers and we beat out multiple counters, all without being the highest offer. Their communication is incredible, we were always informed during every part of escrow. They really, really care about your family and needs. About Kirsten

Kirsten Powell is a licensed REALTOR®, Associate Broker with Better Homes and Gardens | 43° North in Idaho. She works hand in hand with her husband Rick Powell in running The Powell Group here in Meridian, Idaho.

She was born and raised in Copenhagen, Denmark prior to coming to the United States in 1987 to attend college on full swimming scholarship. While growing up, swimming was a large focus in her life and with years of hard training and great coaching, she became the Danish National Champion and record holder in the 50 and 100 Meter Freestyle on multiple occasions. Kirsten attended Indian River Community College and Florida State University on full scholarships while continuing to swim on the Danish National Team. While at Indian River, Kirsten was named Female Swimmer of the Year for NJCAA and while at Florida State, she was Team Captain and recipient of the No Pain No Gain award. She was also part of team that qualified for NCAAs in 1990.

She earned her degree in Hospitality Administration from Florida State and went on to work for The Ritz Carlton Hotel Company as a Concierge and Front Desk Manager before jumping to the financial service industry where she worked in many roles to include Vice President and Key Account Manager, Offshore Funds Manager and was also on the Steering Committee in London that oversaw the AIM Mutual Funds/INVESCO merger that created INVESCAP. In 2001, Kirsten decided to leave the corporate world and focus the next several years on raising Rick’s and her daughter.

The customer/client training she received at the Ritz Carlton created a great base for how she handles our clients in Real Estate and her background in the Financial Services industry helps ensure that the long view is taken when discussing whether or not a property is a good acquisition. The attention to her clients and her focus on organization and detail is valuable in all of her transactions.

Kirsten joined Rick in real estate in 2004 as the Office Manager and Transaction Coordinator and within a short time received her real estate license and taking on her own clients. In 2010, she earned her Brokers License, the highest licensing requirement in real estate.

On the personal side, Kirsten and Rick just celebrated 31 years of marriage (January 2025) and love to spend time with their daughter who played collegiate volleyball for Cal Poly Pomona (2016-2020). In her spare time, Kirsten can be found on the Peloton, on the mountain trails, skiing the local mountains, playing pickle ball and spending time with her family and friends.
