Although she hails fromEdmonton, Alberta, Canada and graduated from the University of Alberta, onceshe found Austin, she knew it was home.  She has been married for 20+years and has one son, Eric (as well as two fantastic and frisky bordercollies). She enjoys traveling, running, and babysitting her neighbor’s lab,Molly.

Over the past few years Shannonhas been involved with raising money for the Austin Children’s Shelter through various volunteer roles, including as the GalaChair.  She is active with Austin’s Women of Hope,serving as a Founding Member and is a member of the Town Lake Trail Foundation.

Shannon undertook an amazing60-mile walk raising money for Susan G Komen Foundation in honor of one of herclients who was diagnosed with Breast Cancer and has also completed the 40 mileAVON Walk to End Breast Cancer in New York. In July 2013, The ShannonSchmitz Group was the title sponsor for the Susan G. Komen / Round Rock Express Pink in the Park, an event for Breast Cancer awareness.
