What do Clients Say?
"Joanmarie demonstrated to me her unique calling in serving her client. She has deep experience in real estate and a passion to learn and know people. She is smart, operates at multiple levels and thinks steps ahead of most people. Her incredible adaptability and uncanny ability to know what I wanted before I communicated to her made me feel comfortable and confident that I would land the dream home I aspired. Her flexibility also allowed her to learn as my needs shifted through the experience and quickly switch tactics to advise me when the seller changed their mind about something at the last minute. Joanmarie also built a strong relationship with the seller’s agent, and used that relationship as a means of ultimately influencing the seller toward decisions that served me well. Joanmarie’s great connection, quality of relationships with people and relentless perseverance to always make the client happy has given me no doubt that when I look to sell and/or buy my next home, Joanmarie will be the first person I call."John B.
“When the time came to sell a Craftsman house my husband and I owned for over 30 years, it was a bitter sweet experience. We knew the time was right but we wanted to sell to someone who would love the house as we did. Joanmarie captured the special qualities of the house, writing inspired copy for the advertisement and gave great suggestions on staging. She guided us thorough multiple offers resulting in a price well above asking. We sold in one week to a young couple who were absolutely thrilled to get the house. My husband and I were very satisfied with the entire experience and felt fortunate to have Joanmarie's guidance throughout the process.”Carolyn G.
“Joanmarie worked with my wife and me for close to two years while we prepared my mother-in-law's Laurelhurst home for sale following her death in 2011. We had many decisions to make regarding the house itself. Should we try to rent it and wait for the market to improve? Should we put money into repair? How much should we ask (not an easy question to answer because comparables were nearly non-existent)? Was the highest and best value as a teardown or would someone one to remodel what was there? We also had a tax appeal to file due a grossly overstated value on the part of the assessor. Joanmarie helped us work through all of these issues, decisions, and more. Joanmarie spent the time to really dig into the market to understand it. She worked her extensive network of potential buyers, contractors, roofers, etc. for whatever resource was needed to move the transaction forward. Joanmarie's resource network is amazing. She also helped with the property tax appeal. She was able to find enough data for us obtain a substantial adjustment. In the end, when she located an interested buyer, she helped us put together a deal that we felt was fair to both parties. Discussions were based on transparency and open communication. She was ready and able to provide us with great advice during the final negotiations and really carried the ball until the deal was done. At no time during the entire process did we feel pressured or hassled. ..an unqualified positive reference. She is the best of the best .Sadly, my wife passed away unexpectedly several months after the house was sold. I know that were she still here she would be joining me in providing Joanmarie with an unqualified positive reference. She is the best of the best."Dave W.
‘What does a 50+ hour/week worker (and play-hard-weekender) do when his trashed rental home needs to go on the market? I was at a complete loss--I know basic home maintenance, but to fix what my renters had left behind was overwhelming to me. But then, my guardian angel stepped in. The value of having a real estate agent that knows home design, home structure, and home maintenance is unfathomable in itself, but add general contractor?? Joanmarie Curran went through my rental, list in hand, and determined what was essential to repair and remodel the home in order to make it attractive. She oversaw the entire work: from yard maintenance, to bathroom remodel, to furnace repair, to flooring installation, to plumbing issues, and beyond. The transformation happened in just two months; she had all of the contacts in which to make it happen and coordinated them all. Voila. The prize? Multiple offers, and a significant return on my repair/remodel investment. Simply put: invaluable.Matt D.
‘’We were looking for an upscale condominium unit in the Capitol Hill area. Joanmarie's skills helped us find the right one at the right price. She knows the neighborhood, and the buildings, and steered us away from some that would have been a mistake. I think that diplomatically advising a client that "you do not want to buy this" is as important as "this is a good one, let's put in an offer." We would recommend Joanmarie to anyone who wants a first rate broker.”—Jim L.

A note from Joanmarie:
"During the Age of the Specialist, there was a time when “dilettante” was a pejorative term. However I find that my interests have always been many and somehow they all are interconnected and supportive of one another. I believe that everyone wants and deserves quality attention, professionalism, expertise and having their interests served; perhaps this is a return to Humanism.
Finding and creating "home" has captured my interests for as long as I can remember. I bought my first historic home and put it back together again more than 30 years ago; it’s been a love affair ever since. My career began with East Coast restorations, later to waterfront properties, farm acreage and sustainable land development in the Puget Sound area of Washington state and then to in-city Seattle/Bellevue neighborhoods in 2000. Having lived, worked, raised a family and played in these neighborhoods, I am very familiar with their unique characteristics, understanding and answering "what does it feels like to live there".
Creative problem solving, market knowledge and discretion added to comprehensive customer service and scope of vision ensures that my clients realize their concept of home across all property types and price points, whether they are moving to, from or within Seattle. This is a deeply personal business; my clients become friends and repeat customers for life.
Global complexities are well understood. My team works closely with foreign nationals in my Seattle market through strategic unique partnerships; for more than 15 years, my personal experiences of living, buying and remodeling homes in Tuscany has provided resources and advice to clients interested in residential properties in Italy.
